The ChimGard 3-4 Thermometer is the most popular surface thermometer for use on single-walled stove pipe. Colored "zones" on the enamelled steel face indicate safe burning temperatures, letting you know what's going on. After doing some research, I discovered that it is recommended to have a thermometer on the chimney, which we haven't had in the 3 years of living here. Received this in the mail quickly, and it looks exactly like the picture. Our stove is completely black, and I wasn't sure I wanted something so colorful, but it's great because we can see the temperature is ok without having to look too closely at it. I had intended on buying one of these for the top of my wood burning stove, but I accidentally bought the chimney version by accident. I just set it on top of my stove, and it works pretty good. I can't believe my stove actually gets as hot as it does. The only issue I have is that the gauge sometimes gets stuck when cooling off around 150 degrees. Just touch the needle with your finger, and it frees up. |
