I have little beef with the case. Pros - the case feels very substantial, and the price seemed fair. The steel looks thick, and is well finished. The seams when closed look good, straight and no gaps. The locking mechanism works well, the combination works, seems to work better when you put some pressure on the wheel when turning. When unlocked the latch works smoothly and with no hangups. A cable is supplied to wrap around something substantial, say a car seat or similar in the home. Cons - the font on the comb is odd, the 2's appear to be "Z". The numbers on the combo need good light to read with confidence. Also the when you work the combo, you need to hold the case with the combo on top, seemed up-side down to me. The cable is short, when seems appropriate, but since the combo must be at the top to be oriented correctly, the cable... It is solid and sturdy enough to discourage casual or opportunistic theft, but will not prevent serious thieves (with serious tools) from getting inside. Combination lock works well with no keys to lose (or remove from your ignition in order to open). Will easily keep children from accessing contents.This is great for those times when you can't bring a pistol with you (going into a courthouse, airport, etc) and need to secure your weapon. Also great for keeping kids from accessing a firearm in your vehicle. The foam liner is a little flimsy, but adequate to keep items from getting scratched or sliding around inside the case. The included cable is long enough to allow handling of the box and still allow under seat storage in most automobiles. All in all, a very good value for the security that this box provides. I purchased the case for transporting my .45 in my checked luggage. The case was large enough to easily hold the pistol. The magazines were not placed in the case (my choice) but probably would have fit. The closure was tight and the combination worked flawlessly. The case fit easily in my bag and there were no issues raised by TSA. I am very pleased with the quality and value of this product. |
