...no more secure than a cookie jar on a top shelf and I mean it.I cannot believe than none of you guys that left reviews here before me did not notice this.It is supposed to hold things inside secure and away from less than honest people.I understand it is not a full featured safe that takes hours to break into but this is just ridiculous.Ok,enough of me rambling and let's just get to the point. My big gripe with this safe is the hinge, which is at the bottom of the door and it is not completely recessed.Anybody with a hammer (not a sledge hammer, just a regular one that everybody has arround their house), a nail, and a small plier can open this joke of a safe in just about 30 seconds.Check the pictures I uploaded and you will see what I am talking about. Just imagine unhinging a regular door, three hinges and bam the door is out.The only difference here is the number of hinges, only one. This thing is going back as we speak...I just took delivery an hour ago and is back in the box... 1.0 out of 5 stars Safe Refuses To Open, May 6, 2012

The mechanical parts of this safe are junk. I only owned this safe for about 7 weeks before it the latch completely failed. One time I closed it, and it refused to open afterwards. The fingerprint reader authenticated me and the motor inside the safe would attempt to open the safe, but the door would not open. The bypass key would turn in the tumbler and still the lock would not open. The manufacturer did not reply to me about the problem. I ended up having to cut the safe open to get my belongings out. I will not buy another Stack-On product and would advise others not to either.

I do not believe there is a better value on the market in a quick access safe. This safe is very sturdy. While very few safes of this class can guarantee to completely secure firearms from thieves, this safe will secure your handguns from your children. If properly mounted, it should slow down thieves and give them more work than they are willing to do (after all, they are thieves!!). I would buy this safe again, and would recommend it if you don't want to get into the big bucks. The only reasons this safe does not get 5 stars are 1) the buttons are pretty stiff and require a lot of effort to press. Maybe they will loosen up. 2) There are no rear mounting wholes which would be useful on a shelf (mount to wall studs).
