Small media items like books, dvds, cds, vhs, fit on these very easily with plenty of space for stacking. The shelving is very sturdy, which when you're dealing with heavy items like tools or hundreds of books, is essential. At 18" deep you have the ability to fit storage bins, crates and boxes with ease. In my case, since media items are fairly small, I am able to use these racks from both sides as they are set up about 4 feet from the wall.These are the heavy duty racks you want in your warehouse, garage or basement. Weighing over 70 lbs each you may need help getting them to your set-up area but once you open the box just about any able bodied adult can put one of these together in short order without aid. The first two were very solid pieces of gear. This one is solid but not nearly like the others. That the shelf boards are covered is nice. My main problem is that it arrived missing many parts. I contacted the company, waited a couple days and did not get a call back. Called again and got a human who was very nice. Told her the issue of the missing parts and gave my information. It's been a couple weeks and I haven't seen the parts to complete the purchase. The day after I talked with the nice lady, I did get a phone message from the company relating to my first call. In short, it's a fairly solid item. If there is any disappointment, it is because I have some previous one's, bought at Sam's Club, that are much more sturdy for the same price, and that the system did not arrive complete.
