I actually didn't buy my cabinet/safe from Amazon, but I thought my review would be helpful for those looking for a cabinet/safe.You have to put the shelving unit together yourself, but the good news about that is you don't have to be Tim "The Tool Man" Taylor to figure it out. The instructions are a good guide, but you can probably figure it out yourself without having to follow their step by step guide. There is a minimal amount of parts and it's pretty easy to identify what is what and what goes where. I did and I'm not the handiest guy around. This is a great gun cabinet/safe for the novice-average gun owner. Positives: The cabinet isn't too heavy (about 75-100 pounds) and if you need to move it around you won't kill yourself doing so. However, you do have the option to anchor this to something and there are pre-drilled holes for that in the cabinet. There's lots of storage space. This is a gun cabinet, not a safe. If you know this, you will be happy. You have 4 different ways of setting up the racks with this gun cabinet. You can set it up so you have lots of shelves with space for 3 long guns or no shelves with space for 15+ long guns. It has a basic lock on it to keep people out. With that said, locks only keep honest people out. It will not be a challenge to pry open for anyone armed with a simple screw driver and some time. If you only need to keep your firearms out of the way, this gun cabinet is a good way to go.Be advised that you obviously must set up the shelves yourself. This is not a difficult process, however, it is somewhat tedious and 2 people MAY be required to set this up. The instructions are minimalistic.. but they work. I looked at the diagrams provided and just kept working at it. Total set up time maybe 45 mins. Long story short.. decent quality gun cabinet with basic lock. It gets the job done for what I need however, it is definately not designed for several firearms at once. I bought it keep the kids away from the firearms and it does that but it's tight. I can see having to purcahse something a little bigger before long. I think this cabinet will make a good ammo storage cabinet. I would still recommend it. It is not meant to protect your firearms or anything else from a house fire and a dedicated thief but it's ok to keep the kids out. |
